Elga open-pit coal mine
The license area is located in the south-eastern part of Yakutia, some 415 km south-east of Neryungri and 300 km from the Baikal-Amur Mainline (BAM), in the central part of the Tokinsky coal-bearing region of the South Yakutsk coal basin, to the west of Bolshoye Toko Lake, close to the borders of Amur Oblast and Khabarovsk Krai (Russia).
The nearest settlements to the west of the deposit are the City of Neryungri and the Town of Chulman, located 510 km away along the winter road, and the Town of Chagda 350 km to the north.
The maximum height of the license area is approximately 1,270 m.
Terrain height in this area declines from north-west to south-east from 1,300-1,400 to 1,000-1,100 m a. s. l.
